Unidentified drones continue to fly in spite of national ban
The Second Army Region Command has detected more than 90 unidentified drones flying in five northeastern provinces, as well as dozens more along the Thai-Cambodian border, some of which crossed into Thai territory despite the nationwide ban.
In its daily update, the command reported that 94 unmanned aerial vehicles, or drones, were detected in Surin, Buri Ram, Ubon Ratchathani, Nakhon Ratchasima and Roi Et provinces.
Despite the ban, the command detected 25-30 drones flying in border areas with Cambodia, some of which crossed into Thai sovereign territory.
It also observed that Cambodian soldiers have attempted to cross the barbed wire fences erected near Thai operational bases. Thai forces responded in accordance with the rules of engagement, prompting the Cambodian soldiers to withdraw peacefully.
Meanwhile, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams continue clearing operations in the border areas. To date, 269 areas have been cleared, 43 remain pending and nine areas are awaiting the controlled destruction of mines.
The public is strongly urged to notify local authorities immediately if any suspicious objects are found.
Damage assessments in four provinces report 256 households affected, categorised as:
· Minor damage: 185 households
· Major damage: 29 households
· Severe damage (over 70% loss): 42 households
The army has provided assistance to residents to repair their houses.
