Thailand Prepare for Storm Kajiki

BANGKOK, Aug 25 (TNA) – Thai officials are on high alert as Tropical Storm Kajiki approaches, with provinces across the country preparing for heavy rain, potential flooding, and landslides.

The storm is expected to hit northern Thailand from August 25-26, prompting immediate action from government agencies and local communities.

In Nan province, residents are moving belongings to higher ground. The local hospital has coordinated with the military to relocate medical equipment to safe areas.

Nan officials have also set up a 24-hour “War Room” and two hotlines (054-710000 and 054-710001) to quickly respond to emergencies, with a focus on high-risk river and hillside areas.

The Department of Mineral Resources has issued a landslide and flash flood warning for 35 provinces from August 24-28 due to the storm and a strong southwest monsoon.

The department is advising the public to monitor rainfall, as over 100 mm in 24 hours poses a high risk of landslides. People in vulnerable areas are urged to be vigilant and watch for signs like murky water or debris.
