Cabinet list set for royal assent Tuesday
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul is expected to submit the Cabinet list for Royal assent on Tuesday, after those named on it have been thoroughly vetted by the Office of the Secretariat of the Cabinet to ensure that the qualifications of the individuals meet legal requirements.
Informed government sources said the prime minister is likely to present his government’s policy statement to parliament between April 7 and 9, after which his government can officially start functioning.
The sources said that there has been an adjustment to the Cabinet quota for the Bhumjaithai party, after Dr. Borwornsak Uwanno, who was tipped to be appointed a deputy prime minister, decided to drop out. He is replaced by Pakorn Nilpraphan, former secretary-general of the Council of State.
The Cabinet consists of 35 ministers, including the prime minister, which is the maximum number permissible by law.
