Express train derails in Prachuap Khiri Khan, injuring nine
An express train, from Sungai Kolok province bound for Bangkok, partially derailed in Prachuap Khiri Khan this morning, injuring nine passengers.
The accident occurred near Kui Buri railway station at about 5.15am on a curved section of track. Two sleeper carriages at the rear of the train derailed.
Nine passengers were injured, most of them women, and were taken to a nearby hospital.
The State Railway of Thailand reported that the derailed train was operating an express service from Sungai Kolok to Krung Thep Aphiwat.
Passengers from the derailed carriages were transported to Bangkok by road, while the unaffected carriages continued their destination.
