Air force unveils Thai-made kamikaze drones
The Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) today unveiled its locally developed "Kamikaze UAV", a cutting-edge loitering munitions system designed for precision strikes.
In a significant boost to Thailand's defence capabilities, the sacrificial drone, entirely designed and tested by Thai engineers, successfully demonstrated its combat readiness during recent trials, destroying medium-range targets with better than 5-meter accuracy using its high-explosive warhead.
Kamikaze UAVs are the result of extensive research and development by the Navaminda Kasatriyadhiraj Royal Thai Air Force Academy, in collaboration with the Aerospace Science and Technology Research and Development Centre and the RTAF Ordnance Department.
This success represents a milestone in the transition of the Kamikaze UAV program into serial production and active service, strengthening Thailand's capability to protect territorial integrity and maintain national stability, according to the RTAF.
