Kajiki weather system weakens as it approaches Nan province
Typhoon Kajiki has already weakened to tropical storm and will enter Thailand’s northern province of Nan this evening. Widespread flooding has been reported in Chiang Mai and Nong Khai provinces today, after very heavy rain since Monday night.
The Meteorological Department reports that the storm, with wind speeds of 55kph at its centre, was located at 10am about 120km to the east of Nan province. Moving at a speed of 10km per hour, it will further weaken into a low pressure cell as it nears Nan province this evening.
Loei, Nong Khai, Bung Kan, Sakhon Nakhon, Udon Thani and Nong Bua Lamphu, Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Nan, Phrae, Uttaradit and Lampang can expect heavy to very heavy rain.
In Nong Khai province, it is reported that several roads in the Muang district are flooded, following continuous rainfall since Monday night.
