La Petite Maison’s Tomatini day celebration

Tatler Hong Kong

La Petite Maison Hong Kong is raising a glass—or rather, a shaker—to World Tomatini Day on November 12 with a week-long celebration of its signature savoury cocktail. The annual homage to Riviera joie de vivre comes with limited-edition Tomatini business lunch and brunch menus designed to toast the occasion.

Now in its 15th year, the Tomatini has achieved near-cult status, often credited with ushering in the modern savoury-cocktail movement. Conceived by award-winning bartender Jimmy Barrat ahead of La Petite Maison Dubai’s opening in 2010, it reimagines the Bloody Mary through a Mediterranean lens: bright, elegant and fresh.

Crafted exclusively with Ketel One Vodka, the Tomatini brings together freshly muddled Campari tomatoes, a touch of aged three-year white balsamic vinegar, a hint of simple syrup, and a dash of salt and pepper. It’s crowned with a cherry tomato, salted and peppered, and finished with a theatrical grind from LPM’s oversized pepper mill, a signature flourish at the restaurant.

Returning for its second edition, Tomatini Day kicks off a week of exclusive tastings beginning November 12, when guests will receive a complimentary Tomatini or its playful sibling, the TomatiNo, during lunch. Throughout Tomatini Week, diners can explore new lunch and brunch experiences that spotlight LPM’s refined Southern French cuisine and celebrate the cocktail that captures summer in a glass.

Available from November 12 to 19, Tomatini Week invites guests to savour the flavours of the season with two specially curated Business Lunch menus: the two-course Le Petit and the three-course Le Grand. Each begins with a burst of freshness that celebrates the tomato in all its glory. From a chilled tomato gazpacho with stracciatella and basil oil to burrata with cherry tomatoes and basil. Other starters highlight LPM’s signature play on seasonality and texture, including green bean salad with candied almonds, yellowtail carpaccio with guacamole and citrus dressing, and snails with garlic butter and parsley.

Mains strike a balance between comfort and sophistication: homemade paccheri pasta with cherry tomatoes and burrata, pan-seared scallop with pumpkin, butternut squash and cauliflower, marinated baby chicken, and grilled sirloin steak with tarragon sauce. Each dish is designed to complement the Tomatini’s delicate savoury-sweet character.

The celebration continues on Sunday, 16 November, when La Petite Maison’s beloved Sunday Brunch joins the festivities. On this day only, the Tomatini and its playful counterpart, the TomatiNO, take centre stage in the restaurant’s signature free-flow experience. Expect a spread of refined French-Mediterranean favourites, from egg benedict crab hollandaise and beef tartare with smoked bone marrow mayonnaise to tomato-forward dishes like warm heirloom tomato tart and burrata and tomato toast.

For the main event, diners can choose between the pan-fried bream fillet with apple rémoulade, the roasted beef with red wine sauce, or a comforting risotto with seasonal mushrooms and parmesan, a fitting finale to a week dedicated to one of the Riviera’s most beloved creations.
