From Hong Kong to Macau: Rolex GMT‑Master exhibition connects time zones in style
Following the success of the Rolex GMT‑Master Exhibition in Hong Kong, Macau became the next stage for this extraordinary celebration of watchmaking heritage as Bern Watches and Rolex unveiled the “Rolex GMT‑Master Exhibition: Time Zone to Time Zone” at the Pearl Lobby, Galaxy Promenade, within the Galaxy Macau integrated resort. From July 3 to 27, the free-to-enter showcase immersed visitors in the story of the Oyster Perpetual GMT‑Master, the legendary “ultimate tool watch” that has accompanied globetrotters, aviators, explorers and artists across decades of travel and discovery.
Originally launched in 1955 during the golden era of intercontinental aviation, the GMT‑Master was designed to solve the challenge of keeping track of time across multiple zones, its distinctive two‑colour 24‑hour bezel becoming an instantly recognisable emblem of connection and adventure. The Macau exhibition presented thematic panels, a short documentary film, and an exclusive selection of historic and current GMT‑Master and GMT‑Master II models, charting the evolution from the early Plexiglas bezel and calibre 1036 movement to today’s ceramic bezels, Chromalight displays, and calibre 3285 with independently adjustable hour hands.

Guests explored the milestones of the collection, from its association with pioneering aviators and space missions to its role as a cosmopolitan symbol worn by cultural icons, all within the luxurious surroundings of the Galaxy Macau—a destination famed for its award-winning hotels, Michelin-starred dining, designer shopping and world-class leisure experiences. Knowledgeable Bern Watches staff were on hand to provide expert insight, allowing visitors to appreciate the technical mastery and timeless elegance of Rolex’s travel companion.
As attendees departed, they carried with them not only the memory of precision engineering and iconic design, but also a deeper sense of the GMT‑Master’s enduring mission: to bridge time zones and connect people across the globe.
