Neutral palette is the frontier for an inviting home.

This 209-square-metre apartment in the Bigorrilho neighbourhood of Curitiba, Brazil, was renovated by architect Camila Dequech Ceschin Abdul-Hak from DC55 Arquitetura.

Designed for a couple and their daughter, the flat was reworked to focus on comfort, practicality, and a clean, modern look. The goal was to create a home with functional, open spaces that feel light and welcoming.

The main change was combining the living and dining rooms into one large, open-plan social area, making it a better space for family time and entertaining. The cosy lounge, complete with a fireplace, offers a relaxed spot to unwind, while the kitchen was redesigned to suit the family’s routine, with a more practical and modern layout.

The couple’s bedroom now features clever storage solutions and an improved layout, balancing style and practicality. Throughout the flat, the lighting was carefully planned to bring out the textures of the finishes and create different atmospheres. A mix of recessed lights, spotlights, and light strips ensures the spaces feel bright and adaptable.

The neutral colour scheme, with whites, greys, and wood tones, gives the flat a warm, contemporary feel. Finishes like marble and custom cabinetry add a touch of sophistication while keeping everything functional and stylish.
