BEIJING, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) -- Yu Wenming, former head of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, has been handed over to procuratorial authorities for prosecution over suspected job-related crimes.

Yu was found to have accepted invitations to banquets that could affect the fair exercise of public power, failed to report personal matters as required by regulations, illegally accepted gifts and cash, and abused his position to seek benefits for relatives, according to the National Commission of Supervision.

He is also alleged to have turned public resources into instruments for personal gain, amassed wealth through illicit means, and abused his position to assist others in areas such as drug registration approvals, while illegally accepting large sums of money and valuables in return.

Yu's conduct constitutes serious duty-related violations and is suspected of bribery crimes, the National Commission of Supervision said, noting that the illegal gains shall be confiscated and the related properties transferred to the prosecutors.

Yu was placed under investigation this June for suspected serious duty-related malfeasance. ■
