ISLAMABAD, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Prime Minister's Special Representative on China Zafar Uddin Mahmood has hailed China's Global Governance Initiative (GGI) as the "need of the hour," saying it offers a Chinese solution for tackling today's global challenges and improving global governance.

Speaking on Tuesday at a media interaction themed on accelerating the building of an even closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era, Mahmood said China has a proven record of translating commitments into reality.

He cited the New Development Bank and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank as examples of international financial institutions that quickly moved from announcement to successful implementation, benefiting developing countries, including Pakistan.

Mahmood noted that Pakistan appreciated the idea of the GGI and looks forward to benefiting from it, believing that the GGI, along with the Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, and Global Civilization Initiative, will provide a good guideline to the countries across the world to follow on improving governance and people's livelihoods.

Answering questions from Pakistani media, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong said that the GGI has injected strong impetus into the reform and improvement of the global governance system.

China is willing to work together with Pakistan to implement the four major global initiatives, uphold international fairness and justice, and promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, he said.■
