The Ned Lands in DC, Bringing Roaring Twenties Glamour to the Capital

The newest outpost of the exclusive Ned brand transforms two historic buildings into a bold and luxurious members-only retreat in the heart of Washington DC.

Opened earlier this year, The Ned’s Club Washington DC blends Art Deco opulence, modern sophistication, and architectural heritage. A collaboration between Stonehill Taylor and Soho House Design, the club reimagines two iconic buildings: the 1920s Art Deco Walker Building and the neoclassical American Security Bank Building. Together, they create a seamless yet strikingly unique space where history and contemporary design merge.

Stonehill Taylor’s architectural expertise preserves the historic integrity of the buildings, most notably the Walker Building’s original lobby, with its intricate stone details and soaring ceilings. Meanwhile, Soho House Design brings the interiors to life with rich materials, bold patterns, and playful nods to the city’s history.

Inside, members will find spaces that are both functional and theatrical. The library, inspired by the Obama White House, features striped wallpaper, vintage mantels, and a polished atmosphere that transitions from a daytime workspace to a lively evening bar. The parlor showcases Kennedy-era sophistication with custom murals and vibrant mosaic floors, creating a space steeped in nostalgia.

Dining experiences are equally memorable. The restaurant lounge offers panoramic views of the Washington Monument through towering windows, anchored by a central fireplace and a stage for live music. The Founders Dining Room, overlooking the White House, boasts wood paneling, stained-glass windows, and design touches inspired by the White House solarium.

The rooftop bar promises to be a showstopper, with intricate mosaic flooring and sweeping views of DC’s skyline and monuments. For a more serene escape, the conservatory offers a lush indoor garden with wicker furniture and floral details, blending tranquility with elegance.
