A night to remember: Tatler Best Awards Hong Kong and Macau 2025

Tatler Hong Kong

On June 9, inside the grand ballroom of the Regent Hong Kong, the hospitality industry gathered for a landmark occasion: the first-ever Tatler Best Awards Hong Kong & Macau. More than an industry event, it was a powerful expression of where hospitality stands in 2025—diverse, dynamic and deeply interconnected. Across restaurants, bars and hotels, this was a night that recognised the visionaries shaping not only how we dine and drink, but how we experience care, creativity and culture.

Co-hosted by Tatler Asia’s regional editors in dining and travel—myself, Fontaine Cheng and Coco Marett—the ceremony marked a new era. Evolving from Tatler’s long-running Dining Awards, Tatler Best now reflects a more complete view of modern hospitality—celebrating excellence across food, drink, design, service, innovation and the people who make it all possible.

Guests were treated to a generous spread that reflected the richness of the region’s culinary talent, accompanied by pours from Moët Hennessy Diageo, whose selection of cognac, champagne and wines echoed the night’s focus on craftsmanship and elevated the sense of celebration from the very first glass.

From left: Rachel Choy (Deputy Managing Director, Tatler Hong Kong); Michel Chertouh (Managing Director, Regent Hong Kong); Carol Wu (Head of Private Banking, North Asia, DBS Bank Hong Kong); Michel Lamunière (Chairman & CEO, Tatler Asia); Tamara Lamunière (President, Tatler Asia); Rola Lin (Marketing Director, Moët Hennessy Diageo Hong Kong & Macau); and Andy Cheng (Regional Head of Dining, Tatler Asia) toast the beginning of the ceremony

After a welcome toast led by Tatler’s leadership and partners, the evening unfolded in earnest. The reveal of the Tatler Best 20 Restaurants and 20 Bars in each city spotlighted venues that define what it means to be relevant in 2025. In Hong Kong, the list reflected an elegant balance of legacy and momentum, featuring long-standing Cantonese establishments such as Forum alongside newer names such as French restaurant Cristal Room by Anne-Sophie Pic. Macau’s selection carried that same dual spirit, with enduring favourites including Robuchon au Dôme and emerging destinations such as Sushi Kissho by Miyakawa, each earning their place.

A defining moment of the evening came during remarks by Andy Cheng, Tatler Asia’s regional head of dining, who offered a glimpse into what’s next for the platform. He announced that all winners from the Hong Kong and Macau awards will now be eligible for the upcoming Tatler Best of Asia awards, taking place this October. But the vision doesn’t stop there. What began as a regional initiative is expanding—first to Oceania to become the Tatler Best of Asia-Pacific, and next, into the Middle East, establishing Tatler Best as a truly international platform for hospitality. “The goal,” Cheng shared, “is to bring Asia to the rest of the world—because excellence here deserves to be seen everywhere.”

As part of its “DBS Culinary Delights” campaign, DBS Bank presented a video during the ceremony featuring internationally acclaimed chef Edward Lee. The video was introduced by DBS Private Bank, the presenting partner of the Best of the Year awards, and spotlighted the brand’s continued commitment to culinary and cultural excellence. DBS Private Bank explores the intersection of gastronomy, heritage and innovation and introduces the best dining experiences in the city to its clientele. In a room full of hospitality leaders, it served as a timely reminder that this industry is as much about storytelling and legacy as it is about service and craft.
