The event was graced by top-notch design veterans, including Henry Steiner and Kan Tai-keung.

The Hong Kong Design Summit 2025, hosted by the Hong Kong Designers Association (HKDA), took place at Sky100 in the ICC, where more than 1,200 professionals from design, branding, and related industries gathered under one roof. This year’s theme, “Design Exploration: Envisioning the Future of Creativity”, focused on how design can address today’s global challenges while driving innovation and preserving cultural values.

The Summit featured an impressive line-up of guests, including Under Secretary for Culture, Sports and TourismRaistlin Lau, JP; President of WDO Thomas Garvey; and renowned designers such as Henry Steiner and Kan Tai-keung.

On the stage, Lau highlighted the critical role design plays in bridging business and culture, while also acknowledging how creative industries contribute to economic growth. HKDA Chairman Mui Kinoshita emphasised the importance of collaboration within the industry, encouraging local designers to push boundaries and elevate their work to an international level.

The HKDA also announced a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the World Design Organisation (WDO) and the Dongguan Provincial Government, marking a significant milestone in fostering cross-border collaboration.

The MOU with the WDO, a globally renowned organisation dedicated to advancing industrial design, aims to promote international design exchange and support Hong Kong designers in showcasing their creativity on a global platform. This partnership highlights the shared commitment of the HKDA and WDO to drive innovation and elevate the role of design in addressing global challenges.

Throughout the Summit, key topics such as artificial intelligence, sustainable design, and the integration of technology with cultural heritage were explored. International and local thought leaders shared their insights on how design can shape a better future, offering practical advice and new perspectives to inspire the audience.
