Chinese shares close lower Tuesday
BEIJING, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 1.11 percent to 3,824.81 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.51 percent lower at 12,914.67 points.
The combined turnover of these two indices stood at 1.72 trillion yuan (about 243.62 billion U.S. dollars), down from 1.77 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Stocks related to retailing, education, digital currency and autonomous driving led the gains while those related to precious metals, controlled nuclear fusion, cultivated diamonds and non-ferrous metals led the losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 2.1 percent to close at 3,071.76 points. ■
