A carefully restored home that embraces Lanzarote’s strict colour rules inside and out.

Conceived by Czech Republic-based design studio OOOOX, this 3,230 sq. ft. villa celebrates Lanzarote's distinctive colour palette of white and green, inspired by the island's iconic landscape. This colour scheme runs throughout the interior for a calm and cohesive aesthetic.

Lanzarote, one of the Canary Islands in Spain, is known for its striking volcanic landscape and strict building regulations that preserve its unique visual harmony. The island's rules on colour, height, and density ensure that all structures blend seamlessly with the environment.

White and green are the defining colours of Lanzarote's architecture, inspired by the island's volcanic rock, lush palms, and traditional homes. These strict colour guidelines help maintain the island's timeless, harmonious aesthetic, making every building feel like part of the natural scenery.

Originally built in 2000 by local firm DISEÑO LANZAROTE, this villa was designed as a spacious retreat for a couple. The renovation aimed to adapt the space for more occupants while maintaining its simple elegance. The redesign included enlarging the bathroom with large windows offering views of the garden, and merging the living, kitchen, and dining areas to create a more connected and inviting space. Upstairs, a yoga studio and rooftop sun deck with an outdoor shower provide peaceful spots for relaxation.

The outdoor areas were thoughtfully integrated with the interiors. A long dining table under a pergola, a barbecue kitchen, and a poolside garden create perfect spaces for outdoor living. Surfaces were updated with white concrete floors, and local lava stones add natural accents. The house's energy efficiency benefits from Lanzarote's mild climate, solar water heating, and natural ventilation, while air conditioning is reserved for rare extreme conditions.

Most materials and furniture were sourced locally, with some vintage pieces imported from the Czech Republic, adding unique character to this harmonious retreat.
