This 2,050 sq. ft. Repulse Bay Home Tells a Story of Seaside Bliss

This waterfront home in Repulse Bay tells a charming tale, crafted by Kenny Kinguasa-Tsui and Lorène Faure – the founders of esteemed Hong Kong architectural and interior design firm Bean Buro.

The story begins with the homeowners, who are a married couple working in finance. Since they often work from home, the couple wanted their space to be a peaceful sanctuary where they could focus on their work, while their children also had space to play.

Kenny and Lorène put a lot of effort into fulfilling the clients' requests. Kenny revealed, "We drew inspiration from Repulse Bay Beach's tranquil surroundings to design this luxurious beachfront home. It features a lot of beige materials to convey a beachy atmosphere." The seamless combination of a serene sea view and stunning interiors creates a blissful feeling.

Kenny and Lorène opted for whitewashed wooden flooring for that beachy ambience. Wooden décor in soothing shades of beige and off-white adorns the walls, complementing the floor. Earthy red touches have also been strategically placed throughout to add depth and warmth.

Lorène pointed out, "We tailored the wooden decor to integrate with the arched design, creating a serene atmosphere that complements the sea view." The designers softened the sharp contrast between light and shadow by giving the wooden decorations rounded edges. Clever storage space for dry goods was placed in the hallway, utilising display racks and curved shapes. The shelves were divided into irregularly shaped compartments to give them a sleek and lightweight look. The cabinets have reflective interior walls for a more sophisticated look.

However, the project's biggest challenge was to merge multiple functions, fulfilling the entire family's needs without sacrificing space. The house achieves this with secret and sliding doors and hollow screens to promote fluid movement and breathing room. Light floods the home when the doors are wide open, illuminating every nook and cranny. This airtight house has glass doors fitted to create designated areas and allow sunlight to enter. These doors transition from white at the bottom to transparent at the top, ensuring privacy while welcoming light in. Moreover, the couple's childcare is made easy by having a study area near the children's room.

Since the family spends much of their time at home, they wanted to create a vibrant and luminous home atmosphere. The living room uses a Smart system that auto-adjusts shutters, air conditioning, and light switches, modulating temperature and brightness. The system provides versatile and practical preset lighting scenes suitable for different times of the day.
