Thailand Protests Cambodian Ceasefire Violation to International Witnesses
BANGKOK, July 29 (TNA) – Thailand’s acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Phumtham Wechayachai, stated that the government has formally protested to the ASEAN Chair, the United States, and the People’s Republic of China, who served as witnesses to the ceasefire negotiations, regarding Cambodia’s violation of the agreement.
Phumtham emphasized that the Cambodian forces’ breach of the ceasefire clearly demonstrates a lack of sincerity from Cambodia.
The government has instructed all branches of the armed forces to maintain their positions to fully safeguard national sovereignty and the safety of the Thai people. Thailand will not permit its sovereignty to be infringed upon under any circumstances.
The public is urged to follow updates from official channels. The Ministry of Interior and relevant agencies have been tasked with urgently assisting affected civilians along the border, particularly with evacuation back to their homes. They are also asked to await further confirmation from the government.
The government commended the heroic actions of the brave soldiers who have sacrificed their lives to protect the nation’s sovereignty and ensure the safety of its people. Thai personnel casualties include 14 deaths since July 24.
Meanwhile, the Ad Hoc Centre for Thailand-Cambodia Border Situation reported 188,729 evacuees. Civilian casualties total 53, comprising 15 fatalities, 38 injured. Currently, 14 injured individuals are hospitalized. -819 (TNA)
