Cambodia's rocket strike caused Bt45m damage to Surin hospital
Surin’s provincial health office has estimated the damage to the Panom Dongrak Hospital, struck by Cambodian military rockets late last month, at more than 45 million baht.
Following a physical inspection, officials discovered that the rocket attacks on July 28 compromised the structural integrity of several hospital buildings, posing a risk of collapse.
As a result, the hospital will need to construct new buildings. The inspection was conducted on August 2, after the military had cleared the hospital of any residual explosives.
An initial damage estimate, based on photographs, suggested the loss was around 3.5 million baht, but an on-site examination revealed significantly greater destruction.
According to the provincial health office, four new buildings will need to be constructed. The damage includes:
· The Bhumipat and Kwanpumin buildings: 7 million baht each
· The Luangtarod building: 15 million baht
· Three-storey nurses’ dormitory: 15 million baht
· Toilet roofs: 300,000 baht
· Security booths: 150,000 baht
· Hospital signs at the entrance: 200,000 baht
· Roofs of a building and a parking lot: 200,000 baht each
