HM the King cancels birthday-related ceremonies due to armed conflicts
His Majesty the King has ordered the cancellation of birthday-related ceremonies, scheduled to be held at the Amarindra Vinijaya Throne Hall in the Grand Palace, as the country is facing a serious threat from the ongoing armed conflict along the border.
The events to celebrate His Majesty the King’s 73rd birthday, originally scheduled for today and tomorrow, have been called off, according to the National Broadcast Services of Thailand (NBT).
The decision was made as Their Majesties the King and Queen acknowledged that, given the continuing border clashes, the government, military and all sectors of society must concentrate their efforts on protecting national sovereignty, defending the country and ensuring the safety of the people.
The public will, however, still be able to sign the royal books of good wishes as usual, both at the Sahathai Samakhom Pavilion and within the Grand Palace.
The Prasat Phra Thep Bidon also remains open for the public to pay their respects.
Their Majesties have continuously provided essential supplies to military personnel and distributed royally-donated food to support Thai citizens at evacuation centers along the Thai-Cambodian border.
They have also granted aid and sponsorship to those injured in the conflict.
