Thai army warns of potential cyberattacks by Cambodia hackers
The operations centre of the Second Army Region has issued a warning of cyberattacks by hackers based in Cambodia, with an intention to disrupt both government and private sector information systems in Thailand.
The centre is urging all sectors to prepare defences against the potential threat, by upgrading their cyber safety systems on regular basis, such as closing programs or features which are unnecessary, installing authentication systems, regularly taking system backups and issuing operating guidelines on cyber security.
Other measures recommended by the centre include coordination among agencies, vis-à-vis notifications of cyberattacks, the drawing up of cyber security incident response plans and designation of personnel responsible for coordinating with cybercrime investigation bodies or other law enforcement agencies.
The operations centre stressed that the threat of cyberattacks is real, close to home, may be politically motivated and pose a security threat.
