工人死亡後，羅馬競技場延長關閉一天

羅馬，9月24日（路透社）——義大利遊客最多的觀光景點、羅馬的羅馬競技場，將於週五連續第3天關閉；此前，這座有2000年歷史的圓形劇場發生一名維修工人死亡事件。ROME, Sept 24 (Reuters) - Italy's most visited tourist attraction, the Colosseum in Rome, will stay closed for a third day on Friday, following the death of a maintenance worker at the 2,000-year-old amphitheatre.

這座古蹟週三起停止對遊客開放；22歲技術人員安德烈亞・莫雷蒂在夜間事故中喪生。他當時正在安裝新的照明系統，從數公尺高處墜落。The monument was shut to visitors on Wednesday after Andrea Moretti, a 22-year-old technician, died in an overnight accident. He had fallen several metres while installing a new lighting system.

一名文化部發言人表示，關閉措施原先延長至週四，現在將再持續一天，重新開放時間延至週六。A culture ministry spokesperson said the closure, first extended until Thursday, would continue for another day, postponing the reopening to Saturday.

這名發言人說，調查以及與工作人員討論仍需要更多時間。The spokesperson said more time was needed for investigations and discussions with staff.

羅馬競技場是羅馬帝國最大的圓形劇場，曾用於舉辦角鬥士搏鬥、處決與獵獸活動。根據文化部最新資料，2024年羅馬競技場吸引近1500萬名遊客。The Colosseum was the biggest amphitheatre in the Roman Empire and was used to host gladiator fights, executions and animal hunts. It attracted nearly 15 million visitors in 2024, according to the latest ministry data.

義大利總理喬治亞・梅洛尼（Giorgia Meloni）週三表示：「安德烈亞・莫雷蒂這名技術熟練的工人夜間身亡……這項悲劇消息讓我們深感震驚與悲痛。」"The news of the tragic death of Andrea Moretti, a skilled worker who died overnight … has deeply shocked and saddened us," Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said on Wednesday.

文化部長亞歷山卓・朱利（Alessandro Giuli）也下令，即日起暫停羅馬競技場所有施工與維修作業，直至另行通知。Culture Minister Alessandro Giuli also ordered the suspension of all construction and maintenance work at the Colosseum until further notice.

起初，古蹟僅有一個區域關閉，但義大利最大工會義大利總工會（CGIL）抗議稱，這樣的處置不足以回應這起致命事故。Initially, only a section of the monument was closed, but Italy's biggest union, the CGIL, protested that was an inadequate response to the fatal accident.

義大利總工會羅馬負責人納塔萊・迪科拉（Natale Di Cola）表示：「人性應該優先於遊客。」他並補充說，工會要求朱利說明莫雷蒂死亡事件的所有相關情況。"Humanity comes before tourists," said Natale Di Cola, the CGIL's Rome chief, adding that the union was calling on Giuli to explain all the circumstances surrounding Moretti's death.

工會原本就已對安全問題感到憂心。去年11月，羅馬競技場附近一座中世紀塔樓部分坍塌，一名羅馬尼亞籍工人被困在瓦礫下數小時後死亡。Unions were already concerned about safety. Last November, a Romanian worker died after being trapped for hours under the rubble of a partly collapsed medieval tower near the Colosseum.
