17th Straits Forum • Cross-Strait Reading Conference Kicks Off in Fuzhou
FUZHOU, China, June 16, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The opening ceremony of the 17th Straits Forum • Cross-Strait Reading Conference was held in Fuzhou, on the morning of June 12. Guided by the Publishers Association of China, the Books and Periodicals Distribution Association of China, and China Publication & Promotion Association, the event was co-hosted by Straits Publishing & Distribution Group, the Ye Shengtao Research Association of China, and other organizations.
As a major cross-strait cultural exchange event focused on advancing national reading, the conference adopted the theme "Connecting Across the Strait, Thriving Toward the Ocean," attracting numerous publishing representatives, editors, writers, faculty and students, and Cross-strait youth. This gathering has built new bridges for Cross-Strait publishing exchanges and cultural heritage preservation.
The opening ceremony featured the release of marine culture publications, the launch ceremony and book donation for Archival Compilation of Fujian-Taiwan Relations during the Republican Era, and the signing ceremonies for multiple projects. Concurrently, the venue hosted featured events including:
- Exhibition and Awards Ceremony for the Cross-Strait Youth AI Short Video Festival
- "Shared Reading" Essay Competition Awards and Research Camp Launch
- During the expert speech session, renowned writers and media professionals from both sides of the Taiwan Strait explored new paths for the integrated development of cross-strait culture from diverse perspectives, offering the audience an intellectual feast.
The conference, running from June 12 to late July, adopts a hybrid online-offline format, featuring a series of activities such as:
