Thailand Reports Cambodian Troop Buildup, Drone Activity Near Border

BANGKOK, July 31 (TNA) – Thailand’s Second Army on Thursday reported increased Cambodian troop deployments and drone surveillance along the Thai-Cambodian border.

The center also detailed the processing of surrendering Cambodian soldiers and voiced concerns over alleged landmine placement.

As of 2:00 PM on July 31, Cambodian forces were observed reinforcing positions, and unidentified drones flew over Thai military outposts in Ubon Ratchathani, Si Sa Ket, Surin, and Buriram provinces.

Twenty Cambodian soldiers who surrendered in Si Sa Ket face illegal entry charges, while two injured soldiers are being treated at hospital in Surin. Thailand also expressed concern over Cambodia’s alleged placement of PMN2 landmines near Ta Kwai Temple, calling it a violation of the Ottawa Treaty and international conventions, especially given the presence of Cambodian forces within the ancient temple grounds.

Meanwhile, 144,334 civilians have been evacuated to shelters across four provinces, with no additional casualties or property damage reported.

Authorities have advised evacuated residents to await official announcements for their return.The Second Army will continue to coordinate assistance for affected citizens. – 819 (TNA)
