Incident Report on the Thai-Cambodian Border Clash 1 August 2025
According to the report from the 2nd Army Area Operations Center, the situation along the Thai-Cambodian border can be summarized as follows
- No additional civilian casualties or property damage have been reported.
- Their Majesties the King and Queen graciously provided supplies to military personnel stationed along the border, including medical equipment, royal relief packages, and essential items.
Civilians affected by the conflict have also received assistance through royal medical units, field kitchens, and relief packages, along with preliminary health screenings, mental health support, and recreational activities.
- Meanwhile, civilians have voluntarily donated blood at mobile hospital units and Thai Red Cross service points to help ensure sufficient emergency blood supplies.
1 August 2025, the Royal Thai Army, led by Lieutenant General Anuparp Sirimonthon, Deputy Chief of Staff, as the head of the Royal Thai Army delegation, and H.E. Mr. Russ Jalichandra, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, as representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with their respective delegations, brought ambassadors and Chargé d’affaires from 11 countries, namely the United States, China, Brunei, Japan, Myanmar, Malaysia, Laos, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
The delegation also included military attachés from 23 countries: China, Malaysia, Pakistan, South Korea, Russia, Singapore, Germany, India, Laos, Canada, France, the United States, the Philippines, Japan, Vietnam, Italy, the Netherlands, Indonesia, Sweden, Switzerland, Brunei, Turkey, and the United Kingdom.
Additionally, Thai and international media representatives, totaling 150 people, visited the Thai-Cambodia border area in Ubon Ratchathani and Si Sa Ket Provinces to receive briefings summarizing the events, inspect, and observe the impacts on Thai civilians from the use of long-range weapons by the Cambodian side, resulting from the Thai-Cambodia tensions.
Detainee Situation (Cambodian Soldiers) The recent clash between Thailand and Cambodia escalated to the use of military force, resulting in 20 Cambodian soldiers being detained by Thai forces. They are considered “detainees” under the protection of international law, particularly the Geneva Conventions, as well as Thai domestic law, which the Royal Thai Army strictly adheres to.
Today, two detainees were repatriated to Cambodia via the Chong Chom Permanent Border Crossing, Surin Province, at 10.30 hrs. One detainee was injured, and another suffered from psychiatric illness. The transfer was carried out on humanitarian grounds, in full compliance with the Geneva Conventions and international humanitarian law. Remaining detainees will continue to be treated in accordance with human rights principles.

Civilian Evacuation Update: A total of 132,040 civilians has been evacuated from high-risk areas to shelters across seven provinces. The breakdown is as follows:
- Si Sa Ket: 63,710 persons
- Surin: 41,834 persons
- Ubon Ratchathani: 19,163 persons
- Buri Ram: 7,333 persons
Drone operations during this period may disrupt security forces and cause misunderstandings in the conflict area. Unauthorized drone use should be reported immediately to nearby authorities for appropriate action.
