The meeting, held at the 19th Military Circle in Sa Kaeo province, was chaired on the Thai side by Lt. Gen. Ammarit Boonsuya, Commander of the First Army Region, and on the Cambodian side by Gen. Ek Sam Oun, Commander of of the 5th Military Region.
Sources confirmed the agenda included 13 previously agreed-upon points from a prior General Border Committee (GBC) meeting, along with three new proposals from Thailand.
Two of these new points, a continuation of previous Thai positions presented to the GBC, involve joint mine clearance operations and a collaborative effort to suppress scammer rings.
The third proposal is a new issue stemming from community encroachments in Thailand’s Sa Kaeo province. Thailand has proposed a joint effort to properly allocate and demarcate border areas. -819 (TNA)
