Suspected Cambodian spy in custody of Thai Marines
A suspected Cambodian spy has been held for questioning by Thai Marines in Chanthaburi province.
The individual, identified as Oeun Khoem, 43, is a lieutenant in the Cambodian army. He arrived in Thailand on March 12th on a non-residential visa, which is due to expire on March 12, 2027.
Oeun Khoem was arrested by Thai Marines at his rented house in the Tap Sai sub-district of Pong Namron district. Cambodian army uniforms were found in his pickup truck.
Informed military sources claim that Oeun Khoem recently posted a message on Facebook which reads: “Thailand attacks first Cambodia defends”, together with his picture.
The sources said that, during interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to being a lieutenant in Cambodian intelligence and had come to Thailand to gather information about troop movements, to pass to his unit in Cambodia.
