PM arrives at Government House as court ruling looms
Embattled and suspended Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra is seen arriving at Government House, as the Constitutional Court prepares to announce its decision on her controversial conversation with Cambodia’s Hun Sen.
Last month, the court suspended Paetongtarn, Thailand’s youngest prime minister, from duty pending its decision.
Upon arrival, she waved to the waiting news crews. Pheu Thai Party members were also seen arriving, to provide some moral support.
A group of 36 senators petitioned the Constitutional Court, seeking a review of the content of the conversation with Hun Sen, claiming it amounted to gross ethical misconduct and dishonesty.
If the nine judges find her guilty of the charges, she would be removed from the office she officially assumed last September and her entire cabinet would be dismissed.
