China announces 14-man roster for final FIBA Asia Cup preparations
BEIJING, July 30 (Xinhua) -- China’s national men's basketball team on Wednesday announced a 14-player roster for final preparations ahead of next month's FIBA Asia Cup in Saudi Arabia.
The squad is scheduled to depart for Jeddah on Thursday. Named to the roster are Gao Shiyan, Xu Jie, Hu Mingxuan, Liao Sanning, Cheng Shuaipeng, Zhao Rui, Zhang Ning, Wang Junjie, Yu Jiahao, Zhao Jiayi, Hu Jinqiu, Zhu Junlong, Li Xiangbo and Lei Meng.
In a statement, the team said the selection was based on factors including positional needs, injuries and player form during recent warm-up games.
China enters the tournament on the back of four straight warm-up wins - two each against Venezuela and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Drawn in Group C, China will face host Saudi Arabia, India and Jordan at the FIBA Asia Cup, which runs from August 5 to 17. ■
