SINGAPORE, July 27 (Xinhua) -- China continued its dominant run in diving at the World Aquatics Championships here on Sunday, capturing two gold medals in the mixed synchronized 10-meter platform and the men's one-meter springboard events.

Zhu Yongxin and Xie Peiling, competing together at a major international event for the first time, overcame a shaky start to finish atop the podium with 298.86 points, edging out the DPR Korea duo Choe Wi Hyon and Jo Jin Mi by just 0.06 points. Neutral athletes Aleksandr Bondar and Anna Konanykhina claimed bronze.

"This wasn't an easy win; it was a tough battle, and in the end, we won by just a tiny margin," said Zhu. "Looking back, I felt a bit nervous about how close it was. But ultimately, I'm really glad we managed to secure the victory."

In the men's one-meter springboard final, China's Zheng Jiuyuan delivered a consistent and composed performance to take the gold with 443.70 points. Mexico's Osmar Olvera Ibarra got silver, while China's Yan Siyu earned the bronze.

The 21-year-old Zheng, who had failed to medal in two previous world championships, expressed gratitude for his perseverance.

"Thanks to myself for sticking with it and continuing to fight for this event," said Zheng. "Compared with previous championships, the biggest improvement has been in my mindset. I've competed so many times now that it's hard to feel nervous anymore."

Bronze medalist Yan, competing in his first world championships, described the experience as "tense but thrilling."

"There's still room for improvement in my performance, but overall, I'm very satisfied," he said.

The diving events at the 2025 Singapore World Aquatics Championships will run through August 3, featuring individual and synchronized competitions across multiple disciplines. ■
