The New Face of Gucci Bamboo
The Season of the Arc
For spring/summer 2025, Gucci brings the Bamboo 1947 back into focus, reinterpreting the brand’s iconic handle in two desirable new silhouettes—Bamboo Diva and Bamboo Night. Each one is a contemporary interpretation of Gucci’s history that transforms heritage into wearable art. The Bamboo Diva arrives with an elongated silhouette rendered in high-gloss patent leather, reimagining the classic bamboo handle in polished enamel and metal. Its sleek proportions make it the perfect accessory for any occasion, whether paired with daytime looks or evening attire.

Meanwhile, the Bamboo Night introduces delicate evening silhouettes. Slim, elongated clutches and petite bags feature softly rounded, bamboo-inspired handles, doubling as sculptural jewellery pieces. Crafted in gleaming patent leather, they elevate evening attire subtly, making them perfect for the woman who carries heritage with grace and modernity.

From Innovation to Icon
The story of Bamboo 1947 began out of necessity. In post-Second World War 1947, faced with material shortages, Gucci artisans turned to bamboo walking sticks, gently heating and bending them into elegant curves. With its saddle-like shape, bamboo turn-key clasp and distinctive curved handle, the resulting handbag quickly captured attention for its inventive elegance. Admired first by Hollywood’s elite, the bag soon became an emblem of Gucci’s ingenuity. Over the decades, creative visionaries Tom Ford, Frida Giannini and Alessandro Michele each reinterpreted its silhouette while always staying true to its original spirit.

A Unique Artisanal Process
The craftsmanship behind the Bamboo 1947 remains virtually untouched by time. Each bamboo handle begins with artisans carefully selecting flawless stalks, bending them by hand over an open flame and meticulously applying layer upon layer of lacquer to achieve a polished, golden finish. No two handles are ever identical—every piece carries a subtle, unique signature. Through this unwavering commitment to artisanal tradition, the Bamboo 1947 continues to embody Gucci’s heritage, gracefully evolving for a new generation while telling its timeless story of innovation and elegance.
