At its core is polyfractioned vanilla planifolia, cultivated in Chanel’s open-sky laboratory in Madagascar and extracted using a meticulous process that preserves its most potent molecules. It’s paired with solidago extract, which supports the skin’s structure, and a lipopeptide selected for its ability to help maintain tone. Together, these ingredients create a formula that works in harmony with the skin’s natural rhythm.

At the heart of this collection is polyfractioned vanilla planifolia, a species meticulously selected from among more than 110 candidates for its remarkable qualities. Chanel’s unique polyfractioning process extracts this ingredient, resulting in a formulation rich in polyketones and boasting a concentration of active molecules that is 40 times greater than that of the raw plant material. This polyfractioned vanilla planifolia is a treasure, shaped by the expertise of Chanel research. The polyfractioning technique not only amplifies the potency of active molecules but also enhances cellular reinvigoration threefold, establishing it as an essential element in Chanel’s skincare formulations.

The story begins with a race against time—to hand-pollinate its short-lived bloom, which wilts within 24 hours. Skilled organic farmers grow and harvest the rare pods. Once picked, they journey to Paris where their active molecules, which Chanel refers to as “les Éphémères”, are extracted and crafted into Sublimage serum and creams.
