Man nabbed trying to sneak into Thailand
A Thai man was arrested on Friday night, by Thai para-military rangers, as he tried to sneak across the natural border, between Thailand and Cambodia, into Aranyaprathet district of Sa Kaeo province.
Rattanakorn, a 21-year-old man, was found climbing off the roof of a shop in the Rong Klua border market by a ranger patrol. He was apprehended and taken to the Klong Luk police station for questioning.
The man claimed that he had worked for an online gambling network in Cambodia’s Poipet, which is just across the border from Aranyaprathet. He added that he was dodging mandatory conscription last April.
He also said that his border pass expired in January this year, so he could not return to Thailand through formal border checkpoints.
He claimed to have hired a Cambodian guide, for 1,500 baht, to help him sneak across the natural border at the border market where he was captured.
He was charged with illegal entry and questioned about online gambling and human trafficking activities in Poipet.
